Complete Crap.
I think it was decided from the beginning of the show that he'd be the winner. He could do no wrong. And even when he did do things that were cardinal sins for superheroes (Um, yeah..let's give little kids weapons. That's smart.) it was still glossed over and someone else got the axe.

I think they should call it "Who Wants to Try to Meet Random Requirements Made Up By a Crazy Old Man on the Spot So They Can Appear For Half a Minute in 'SuperEel: Eelectric Doom'"
From what I heard, one of the people in second season got flagged for not liking the outfit he got and telling Stan that he didn't like it up front.
But what's this? Last season, one guy said he liked his outfit, but later said that he didn't and got flagged for it.
So, what's it going to be, Stan? It's just another glaring example that Stan Lee has been out of touch with...well...reality for a long time now.
