3.21 = 3121

Music at the Moment - Prince - "Love"...again and again and again

YAY!!! New Prince Day!!!!

Prince - 3121

Tracks

1) 3121 - A Laid back gritty phunkphest reminiscent to me of "RockHard In A Funky Place". A Nice start for this CD.
Phred Phunk Phactor - 6 out of 10

2) Lolita - Pure T Phunk. This had me dancing in my driver's seat as I left the store after picking up the CD. With a definite old Prince flavor this track has serious radio readiness. Nothing like Prince keyboards. Mmmmmmmmmmm.
Phred Phunk Phactor - 9 out of 10

3) Te Amo Corazón - First release, this is an excellent mid-tempo Prince tune. Sultry, sensual and a really good hip swayer. Love the flute in this. The video, directed by Salma Hayek, is gorgeous.
Phred Phunk Phactor - 6 out of 10

4) Black Sweat - Second release, this is a groove down back. A definite tune for recapturing a lot of the strayed R&B/Hip Hop crowd. Damn good for dancing.
Phred Phunk Phactor - 7 out of 10

5) Incense And Candles - Hell Yes! You know Prince songs that are good for leading up to the horizontal hustle? This is one. Prince makes using a vocoder cool again.
Phred Phunk Phactor - 8 out of 10

6) Love - This is THE jam. Hands down. Phred's nbumber one fave song on this CD. I would SO perform this with Snowy. It gives me a "Pheremone" feel. This is hardcore vintage Prince phunk at its grooviest. Good radio possibility.
Phred Phunk Phactor - 11 out of 10

7) Satisfied - Steamy dance floor in a ceiling fan-cooled bar. Live band and abandoned cold drinks on their tables each sweating like the dancers. Hip grinding blues. Yeah daddy-o *snap snap snap*
Phred Phunk Phactor - 6

8) Fury - This was performed on SNL and had me actually up and dancing. This is another that's very radio friendly. Love this song. Prince guitar makes me move.
Phred Phunk Phactor - 9

9) The Word - Prince has been doing the religious undertone thing for-EV-ah, so I don't know why suddenly people are noticing it. Look at "The Cross". That is one of the best songs off Sign O The Times and a popular favorite among fans. This one is no different. This one promises a good message without the cram-jesus-down-your-throat redundancy of most religious music as well as catchy guitars jams and a dancey beat. No dissapointment here, it delivers.
Phred Phunk Phactor - 8

10) Beautiful, Loved and Blessed - This is the Támar vehicle and while still a great song, not one of my favorites. Tamar is a great singer, wonderful dancer and an all-around talented beauty. I sort of get a Karyn White meets Prince feel from this track. I'll definitely be checking out Támar's CD when it drops on May 2nd.
Phred Phunk Phactor - 6

11) The Dance - This is a really cool song. It's sort of mysterious with a very slight darker flavor in the beginning and then opens up to a flourish of great piano and assorted intruments. Pieces of It take me back to some of my favorite tracks from Around The World in A Day.
Phred Phunk Phactor - 6

12) Get On The Boat - A jazzy, phull-phlavored joint that shines with the presence of the one and only Sheila E. on percussion. And, of course, with Miss Escovedo there's plenty of latin flair. An excellent bookend with 3121 to close up the CD.
Phred Phunk Phactor - 6

It's a good day. *fulfilled sigh*
